Need some motivation

I have just recently started training for my second 1/2 marathon. I am finding that I am frequently tired due to a rotating schedule and shift work. I had never found I had a hard time working in my runs before, but right now, I just dont feel like going. What can I do to change this?

Hello,

I'm new here and haven't properly intro'd myself yet, but I wanted to tell you that I had the same problem (lack of motivation) when training for my second half too. What pushed me to continue my training was the chance to better my time from my previous race. For me, the only way to do that was to keep on running. I would tell myself that if I really felt crappy then I could cut the run short, but usually after 15 minutes or so, I was able to find my groove and finish what I started.

You can do it!!

Yes, the old "trick yourself" method has gotten me out of bed many many times. Also, if you have a thing to treat yourself to, that's nice too. Like say if you finish this run today you get to go in the hot tub (which is what got me out of bed this morning). I also like to tell myself that I only have to do a little bit and then can go home, but by the time a little bit is over, I'm almost done anyway, and it's the point of no return. So I don't! Psych yourself out, and you'll do it!
