Hemorrhoids... and running?
Has anyone on this community ever suffered hemorrhoids as a result or running? Not stomach bleeding, but actual painful protrusions?

I'm not sure if running is what caused it, especially since I've been running for an awful long time now. Two days ago I went on an 8 mile run, then went into work. I had an existing mild hemorrhoid, and I'm not sure if I was just straining at the toilet too much, aggravated it too much by wiping, or if the running aggravated it.

...long story short, by the evening of two nights ago it was so painful I could barely walk, and I spent all of yesterday laying down and being racked with pain anytime my butt cheeks rubbed against it. Today I called in sick to work again (I'm a bartender), because though I can walk today, it's really painful.

Today (or tomorrow) is supposed to be my long run, but I'm almost scared. Anyone with a similar tale?

I definitely feel your pain. I've had that problem ever since my son was born, and running definitely exacerbates it. There are creams your doctor can give you, but I would definitely take a few days (at least) from running. I know it's hard to take the time off, but your body will thank you! That's just my own two cents, for what it's worth.

Oh yeah, I'm kinda glad to know I'm not the only one.

Butt chafe is a nasty thing. It may be that instead of a new 'rhoid.

Try some body glide. It works wonders down there (just make sure to have a dedicated butt stick, so you don't use it elsewhere. . .especially if you're female).
